How to Throw an Eco-Friendly Party:

When it comes to large gatherings and outdoor parties, the simplicity of disposable party supplies is usually the best option. And while we’re the first to admit this, we’re also committed to the environment and helping our customers throw parties that are eco-friendly. We’re proud to carry the eco-friendly party supplies featured in the graphic above, and we’re also excited to share with you the following ways to throw an eco-friendly party:

  • When planning your menu, purchase local,  in-season ingredients and foods. Shop your farmer’s market for lots of veggie, fruit, and cheese options. Head to the local butcher for meat. Serve drinks from a local winery or brewery. And if you’re going to buy a cake,  get it from a local baker, rather than a mass retailer.
  • Mix and match disposable party supplies and your everyday glassware and cutlery. For example, if you decide to use paper plates and napkins, use glass cups to reduce the amount of waste after the party.
  • Don’t waste any food! Send extra food and leftovers home with your guests in tin foil, which is recyclable.
  • There are certain party decorations that can be saved and reused at another party down the road. Whether it’s a honeycomb centerpiece, or a table cover that doesn’t get dirty, saving and reusing these will keep them out of the landfill and save you money!
  • Skip the bottled water! Instead, save and collect cleaned-out wine bottles and fill them with filtered water. Not only does this look great, but it recycles wine bottles and eliminates plastic water bottle waste.
  • Make sure you have a recycle bin next to the garbage can where your guests can place their soda cans and glass bottles.
  • Get a little creative when it comes to decor. Instead of cut flower stems, get potted flowers that you can plant after the party. Another centerpiece idea is to fill punch bowls with fruit, which you can eat after the party. Use items you already have around your house for decor, such as jars, baskets, doilies, vases, and tablecloths.
  • Flood your party space with candlelight. Not only does this cast a gorgeous ambiance, but it will cut back on electricity.

These are a few of the ways you can make your party more eco-friendly. Please feel free to share your ideas in the comments below.

Happy Earth Day!
